But Is It Art?

My just-turned-6 nephew drew this. Can you guess what it's a picture of? Hint: My nephew ROCKS!

UPDATE: Anne got it right; I knew she would. It's Darth Vader and Yoda fighting! See?! What's hilarious is that both InnocentBystander and Lola seem to find Yoda a bit femm, what with his platform shoes and girlish figure.

BTW: It's the same nephew who wrote this.

Without arms you are!

He clearly is a prodigy PW. As for the "but is it art" question, I prefer to save these drawings done by our budding artists for the "is it evidence" folder. When my son is going to 4 sessions a week with his shrink, he can bring this little folder of drawings with him to prove he has been mental since he was three.

A few months ago, he drew a picture of me. It was quite good and he even represented my long "fu-man-chu" facial hair. The disturbing part was the huge smile I had while blood was pouring from my eye sockets.

On father's day I received a gift bag from him. On the bag he once again drew a picture of me. It looked like a demented alien jelly bean with extra appendages. Clearly I looked confused so he pointed to the enormous blue object between my legs and said, "that's your penis."

Yup. Happy Father's day to me. Is it art? Sure it is. Right up there with John Wayne Gacy's paintings and GG Allin's performance art.

Mountain goat or rock climber. I'd go with the rock climber, really, but for the ears on the climber him/herself.

OK - it seems to me to be Darth Vader fighting Yoda. But Darth Vader never fought Yoda. Which tells me that the boy has joined the society of people who dream in Star Wars.

That can't be good.

My attention was immediately drawn to the large menacing black figure on the left of the page, which struck me as a sort of "goth Womble".

Children's art has immense power. I was single-handedly responsible for my mother giving up smoking, when - at around age five - I drew a picture of her at school. When I showed it to her that night, she queried the cylindrical growth protruding from her lower lip and I said proudly "It's a cigarette!"

My poor mother. :)

Yoda seems to be wearing heels. Or perhaps platform shoes.

THAT can't be good.

I was thinking it looked like a green satyr. But better than my 5 year old daughter's drawings of penis people.

I agree with the Darth Vader idea, but his foe has a figure more like Wenchie's(though I can't explain the ears). I'm so proud of her quest to vanquish the Dark Side.

I did comment on your LJ feed, "looks like someone recently saw 'Sith'..." :D
