And So It Begins

So there I was, at 3:30 in the morning, in the backyard in my cotton pajamas. In Chicago. In January. Stella had just peed and pooped in her cage. Lovely. The ground was frosty, and my feet were regretably sock-free inside my garden clogs.

Stella sat down on her little butt and looked at me like, "What -- you think I could possibly have anything left inside me to excrete?"

We went back inside where Husband was tending to cage clean-up, bless his little heart.

As he picked up the tiny poop, he said cheerfully, "Well, at least it's firm!"

Isn't that sweet? And applicable to so many situations. I think I'm gonna write that in his Valentine's Day card.

At least it's firm.

Be grateful that we're in a weird Bizarro world weather pattern and you weren't up to you butt in snow out there.

I so remember those days. Right now it's the reason I haven't gotten another dog, I just like sleeping way too much.

Sherlock had a rough time getting potty trained. I know it was as much me as him. The first week I had him he'd get up FOUR TIMES A NIGHT - at least half of those required crate cleaning. I called up a dog trainer friend, sobbing because I signed up for a dog, not a baby.

Just make sure the crate is small enough so she can't 'go' in one corner and avoid the defiled area by sitting in another part. She'll pick up on it fast though!

Oh, I still run out with my Crocks on and no socks regardless of the season. I bitch every time I get cold, wet feet too :)

One of my friends on LJ posted this with the tag "Look at this and tell me if you think what I think..." and "Sweet Baby Jeebus, it's the Princess of Pot!"

Apparently it's one of the denizens of the Emerald City in Tonner's Wizard of Oz line. (http://www.tonnerdoll.com/wizofoz.htm)
